This swap is taking place in my garage. A normal garage attached to my home in Minnesota. I am a back yard mechanic who loves to work on my 1994 Mustang GT Convertible. I have no formal training, but have worked on cars my whole life. After weighing the options for increasing power I decided the Coyote 5.0 would be the best fit. Please follow me as I make mistakes and hopefully learn from them. Feel free to make comments, suggestions or just ask me questions along the way. Wish me luck!
How much of the factory harness did you have to use and are you still using the factory gauges or did you go aftermarket?
ReplyDeleteI have all the factory guages operational and accurate (at least as accurate as they came originally). I plan to add some gauges this winter. Some like trans and diff temp, because they're not monitored now and others like coolant temp and oil pressure for more accuracy. Not sure what year your car is, but 1994 thru 98 are analog gauges and wire pretty much right up.
ReplyDeleteHard to tell you how much of the factory harness I kept. All the old engine and epa stuff went away including the ecu. I spent a week going through the harness after I had labeled everything and removed it from the car. Used red tape for what was going and green for what was staying and then starting cutting. The factory harness is intertwined with necessities like head lights and horn to nons like A/C and cooling fan. If you have a specific question on a system let me know and I will do my best to get you an answer.
How did u get the a/ c wiring to work
ReplyDeleteI haven't tackled the a/c yet.
Deletewhat headers ended up working for you with the auto trans?
ReplyDeleteIt sucks that I have a silver 94 mustang and was thinking on coyote swapping but everyone is gonna think I'm just a copy
ReplyDeleteDoes it help that I’m painting mine blue this winter?
